My first thought: A fledging mermaid ... and she's afraid of the water ... and she would rather fly than swim. It's as if she were born into the wrong realm. I know this is NOT what you meant by this painting. It's truly weird that I would think this. But nevertheless, those were my first thoughts ... and I thought you'd want to know. By-the-by, beautiful gallery. And all the other mermaids are, to me, definitely mermaids. It's just this one that happened to hold my interest.
